Mud Rescue, Dee Sailing Club, Thurstaston

Fire Crews have been called to reports of two people trapped in mud in the vicinity of Dee Sailing Club, Station Road, Thurstaston. Firefighters were alerted at 12:52pm and on scene at 13:07pm.

2 fire engines are on scene along with the Search & Rescue Team with specialist equipment. Firefighters are liaising with Coastguard and RNLI colleagues to formulate a tactical plan for a safe approach and two firefighters have donned water kit and are ready for immediate deployment.

Police have made contact with the persons trapped. North West Ambulance Service are also in attendance.

Both persons have been released from the mud, and transferred to a place of safety via an RNLI hovercraft.

A multi-agency meeting has taken place and Fire Service, Coastguard, RNLI and NWAS with all agencies fully briefed of the tactical plan.

Both casualties have been removed from the water receiving medical attention for exposure to cold by NWAS.
