Large Flat Fire, Walton

Firefighters have been called to a large flat fire in Beech Road, Walton, in the early hours of this morning. 

6 fire engines and a combined platform ladder are in attendance. 

Crews were alerted at 0.52 and on scene at 0.58. 

Crews arrived to find a well developed fire in the second floor roof space of a flat above a shop on Beech Rd, near to Walton Village. 

The incident has been sectorised and crews are fighting the fire externally with main branch hoses. 2 teams of 2 firefighters wearing breathing apparatus are carrying out a search of the flat and neighbouring properties while also fighting fire. 

The incident is ongoing.

UPDATE 9.36AM

Firefighters left the scene at 4.48am. An investigation into the cause of the fire will be carried out.

UPDATE 10.38AM

The fire is not believed to be suspicious. Nobody was injured but significant damage was caused to the flat. There was also evidence of an old cannabis farm at the location.
