House Fire, Bootle

Fire crews have been called to a house fire in St. Joan's Close, Bootle, Sefton this evening.

Crews were alerted at 5.05pm and on scene at 5.10pm, with four fire engines in attendance.

Crews arrived to find a two storey detached property with a fire in an upstairs room. Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the property and began to extinguish the fire with a hose reel jet rapidly to prevent the escalation of the fire.

Two further firefighters in breathing apparatus entered the property to join the firefighting and the main area of fire was extinguished by around 5.30pm.

Firefighters then began to check the loft space for any fire spread. Two occupants of the house were out of the property before crews arrived and have received treatment for smoke inhalation from fire crews.

North West Ambulance Service are now in attendance and are treating casualties. 

Crews are now dampening down and the incident is likely to draw to a close shortly.
