Gas leak evacuation, Liverpool L6

Location: Boundary Lane, Liverpool L6

Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service is currently in attendance on Boundary Lane, Liverpool L6, following reports of a suspected gas leak.

Crews were alerted at 2.10am and on scene at 2.15am. Two fire engines were sent to the scene.

A number of properties have been evacuated as a precaution and a 25m cordon has been put in place. Utilities have been isolated to properties in the affected area.

Cadent and Merseyside Police are also in attendance.

Road closures are in place at the junction of Boundary Lane and Severs Street, Boundary Lane and New Red Rock View and Whitefield Road.

One fire engine remains on scene to assist Cadent.

The incident is ongoing. Please avoid the area.

UPDATE 8.10AM

One fire engine remains in attendance. Scottish Power is now also in attendance and is working alongside Cadent.

A number of residents have been allowed back into their homes, whilst others have found alternative accommodation with family and friends. 

Multi-agency meetings have taken place between MFRS, Merseyside Police, Cadent, Scottish Power, Liverpool City Council and Torus Housing.

Road closures remain in place as detailed above. Please avoid the area.

The incident has now been handed over to Scottish Power and Cadent, with fire crews leaving the scene at 9.40am.
