Fire at Aintree Industrial Park

Fire Crews have been called to a large fire at Aintree Industrial Park on Wareing Road off Brookfield Drive, L9. 

Crews were alerted at 5.08am and on scene at 5.14am. 

Six fire engines and an aerial appliance are in attendance.

Crews arrived to find a 2 storey building around 100 by 30 metres in size fully involved in fire.

The incident has affected multiple units within the building and has been divided into sectors, with firefighting taking place from multiple locations around the building using main branch hoses and hose reel jets.

Merseyside Police are in attendance and a cordon has been put in place on either side of the building on Brookfield Drive. 

Please avoid the area. There is a large smoke plume from the fire moving in the direction of Longmoor Lane. Residents and businesses nearby should keep doors and windows closed. If you have an existing medical condition, keep medicines nearby and if any ill effects are experienced call NHS 111.

The incident is ongoing.

INCIDENT UPDATE 9.45am Monday 8th May

Roads remain closed at the scene. The fire has been extinguished in one of the sectors and firefighters have made good progress both externally and now inside the building.

Cadent Gas and Scottish Power are assisting with isolating utilities at the site and Merseyside Police remain on scene. Brookfield Road will remain closed for a considerable length of time. 

Please avoid the area if possible.

Firefighting operations continue at the scene, including the use of the Service drone to assist with situational awareness.

The incident is expected to be scaled down to four fire engines and the aerial appliance shortly.

Crews are hotspotting at the scene. The incident will soon be scaled down to one fire engine.
